Communalism and Harmony

Communalism and Harmony

Communal harmony means people of different castes, religious, sex and different background lives together in society with peace amongst them. An individual or a single section of society cannot define the communal harmony.
India is a vast country and have various kinds of religions, castes, cultures ethics, morals and values which defines it's tag of UNITY IN DIVERSITY. India is known for communal harmony which has to be maintained.
Also the indian constitution promotes communal harmony and a special organisation is also framed under SOCIETIES REGISTRATION ACT 1860, named as National foundation for Communal Harmony (NFCH).
NFCH is an autonomous body, the main objective is to provide assistance for the physical and psychological rehabilitation of the child victims of communal caste, ethnic or terrorist violence with special reference to their care, education and training besides promoting communal harmony.
It does not promote the communal harmony but helps the victims of communal violence.

In India and across the world minorities are always affected badly due to communalism. The post independent era in India is very dangerous in terms of communal violence. Subsequent to independence Hindu-Muslim riots were on top, various minorities were in danger, exodus migration across borders to save lives..etc..
Some of the major riots after independence are:-
 1. Exodus of kashmiri pandits (hindus) (1989-1990)
 2. Gujarat riots (1969)
 3. Anti-sikh riots (1984)
 4. Babri masjid demolition
 5. North-east delhi (feb 2020).

HERE WE WILL KNOW ABOUT THE REASONS BEHIND COMMUNAL RIOTS AND THEIR AFTERMATH.

If we want to know some of the basic and true condition of these riots that how these arise, how they spread and how they affect and more specifically who suffers, let's highlight some of the incidents and their reasons.
North-East Delhi Riots
These riots are said to be a "pogrom".
Some of the facts that makes Delhi riots a pogrom are...
Anti-CAA protests were on peak and so the time of elections in Delhi was coming near and political speeches, garnering votes, making promises these kinds of activities were proliferating.

1.) Mostly Muslims were protesting against CAA and there were chaos among Hindu and Muslims due to which violent roots became active between the two groups.

2.) Provocative statements by the political leaders in their speeches communalised the issue and spreaded it like a virus.
e.g:- home ministers said that " press button in babarpur and current should be felt at shaheen bagh".
Anurag Thakur provoked people saying "goli maro"
Kapil Mishra, and many other political speeches build the root of delhi riots.

3.) Delhi police also didn't responded to the help calls for 24 hours during the Riots.
And Police failure was seen.

It was just a little glimpse of recent happened activities which led to the Riots and burned the northeast Delhi.

A). Reasons of  communal riots
1.) 99% of the communal riots are politically motivated, either to gain power or for vitiated interests.
When these riots happens, one major side wins which is in majority and then anything can be achieved, as above provocative statements were made to gain the support of hindus for vote bank.

2.) If the clashes between community have occurred earlier then it is more easy to provoke them again, if it is first time then it is almost difficult.
As above, there were Hindu-Muslim clashes and since we know about riots, we know about Hindu-Muslim clashes.

3.) Without any motive or vitiate interest riots do not happen unless there is big power upon them.
As there are not riots in each city.

4.) Most important there are less number of riots based on the religious activities like if Muslims are performing their duties and any other person of different religion attack them unless they are politically motivated.
Because if they do so, then police would act, as above in (Delhi riots) completely failure of police was seen.

5.) Another great factor is Media which plays key role in national interest and awareness.
If Media spread communal Harmony types of messages and do not organise religious based debates then  most of the communal riots can be avoided.
When the AYODHYA Dispute was going on, most of the TV channels having debates upon Hindu-Muslim agenda.
Nowadays, the murder of hindu priests made religious based killing but it was not so.
Arnab goswami (anchor of republic tv) firmly hold the side that this was a religious killing and made provocative statements on a tv channel, this will certainly increase gap between religion communities.

6.) Failure of the intelligence forces and late respond or action of Police also leads to the extension of riots.
As seen in Delhi riots, police was not even answering the help calls for more than 24 hours.

AFTERMATHS of communal riots
1.) Fear among minorities and they leave the place because of the sufferings, they almost lost everything like lives, house, business, faith on police or government.
After Delhi riots of 2020, many Muslim went to their ancestor home with intention of never coming back.
And almost 50-70 people died.

2.) Economic loss remains the first choice of riots and rioters, vandalising property etc.
Many people lose shops, houses, big stores etc.
Almost Rs 25k crore loss is estimated in Delhi riots, houses, schools, showrooms were ablaze.

3.) To make the situation again normal at the site of riots, is also challenging.
As people have to set their business again, renovate their houses, government has to maintain peace and regain credibility among the victims .

Communal Harmony must be promoted and maintained for the tag "UNITY IN DIVERSITY".
