Impacts of Online Education

TREND of online education is increasing, students discerning new ways to learn. Students might be thrilled to learn online. They may be eager to join online classes because they would get a smartphone or laptop to operate freely, also they will experience something new. On the other hand, parents and teachers are very worried about resorting to online education for a long time.

Diligent students can cope with their studies and they can learn effectively from online classes without misusing the device. For parents, this is a core concern about their child that they should not spend more time in front of a digital screen.

Since the lockdown was implemented, there is clamour about online education, the government also asserted institutions to adopt online methods of teaching.

Impacts of online education:

There is not any negative impact of education, we are discussing the means of education, here it is the online education. Imagine, your child is reading online for two years and always gives exams online. Child scores good in all subjects and school also provides mark-sheet at a regular basis, do you think that the child is getting complete education? Does the complacency reflect in the child? Does the child have all the qualities that are required for a bright future? Does online education affect mental health?
Notwithstanding academic education child need other types qualities also, which can be pursued from offline classes, I mean to say that by interacting with classmates and teachers.

1. POSITIVE IMPACTS
  • Online education can help you to learn something extra, you can garner more knowledge using online platforms, as in school, teachers have to follow syllabus pattern and are bound to complete the syllabus in a fixed period of time.
  • You can learn at your own pace and decide your time according to yourself.
  • You can choose the subject of your choice according to your need.
  • Gives you the opportunity of talking to the teacher face to face, but its chances are very low for school students because if the teacher starts teaching in personal video conferences, it might take more than one day to teach the whole class.
  • Students become more acquainted with education because they will put more efforts to learn something.
  • It is cheaper also as you do not have to pay for any transport fee.
  • Student have variety of videos to watch on same topic.

2. NEGATIVE IMPACTS
  • Online education is putative a barrier to the overall development of a student. In most cases, it restricts the student up to a certain level, because the student might not be able to resolve their query in the time when they need that.
  • Online education completely keeps you away from the outer world. You cannot experience the real education of the school environment.
  • Choosing video of a topic or subject to watch online is also a difficult task because you get the infinite number of choices and the content of the video matters a lot.
  • It takes times to choose a good educator on an online platform.
  • Studies have proved that online education also affects mental health, taking cognizance of this many state governments had ordered to keep children away from online education.
  • It affects physical health also, sitting longer in front of a screen would deteriorate health.
  • Online education gives you some less chance to ponder because you know that the answer is ahead and we do not put full efforts in solving any problem.

These impacts are inevitable and every student faces these, the government is also concerned about the impacts of online education.

Now, getting education using online platforms is the need of the hour because, in such a contagious disease, safety is primacy. Sections of student: primary students; secondary students; senior students; college students, among these, all of them are not affected. Like, college students are well aware of online education, the most affected ones are the school students.

Post pandemic time will be something different because when students go to schools, some of them may have enriched their knowledge and could have benefited due to lockdown and might start preferring online platform to offline.
This pandemic can create a vast gap in education so to fill that gap online education is the panacea. The crisis has brought out the resilience, determination and strength of nation altogether.
