How to Boycott Chinese Products and Challenges we face

The availability of myriad Chinese products in markets and houses makes it difficult to boycott them. In the previous blog, we understood that how Chinese companies dominate the markets and industries of a particular country due to which the local companies do not grow and Chinese products become indispensable.

Also, the Chinese products fascinate customers because of their prices and marketing. Abstain from using the Chinese products that are at home is not a good idea because that is prerequisite for household work, you will invest your money and buy a new one since that is working. Instead of that when that available product get broken or you not use that and thinking of buying a new one then buy the MADE IN INDIA  product.

A little contribution would help your country to give a befitting reply to the enemies. Start promoting government schemes like"AATAMNIRBHAR BHARAT" and many others.

Boycott is necessary, we all understand and we show jingoistic nature but for a short period of time and most importantly that we don't start by our own. Boycotting is not the duty of government because countries have to trade to maintain their needs and relations in various aspects.

If China is aggressor then we should be prudent and every citizen should give their befitting replies by any kinds of mean.

Before boycotting the Chinese products we must know the situation of trade between India and China. What types of products India import? How many products India import?
If we know about all these then it would be easier to boycott their products.

INDIA-CHINA TRADE STATUS

Being neighboring countries, both export and import myriad products. But India is in trade deficit (import more and export less). From last many years the trade deficit is increasing and is a core concern for India and its industries.

Suman Chowdhury, chief analytical officer, Acuité Ratings & Research, said, “With an import of $65.1 billion and export of $16.6 billion, India recorded a trade deficit of $48.5 billion with China in FY20. While imports from China have moderately declined by 15% since FY18 due to imposition of anti-dumping duties on some products, the dependence of the domestic economy on Chinese imports remains high with direct contribution to over 30% of India’s aggregate trade deficit.”

The most common areas in which India depend upon China are:
  • Electronics: India imports more than 65% of phones from China. Also many other items like tube lights, bulbs, pipes etc.
  • Pharma sector: India imports more than 60% of medicines from China.
  • Machinery Goods
  • Automotive Parts
  • Fertilizers

Some simple ways in which you can boycott Chinese product and show solidarity with your country:

  1. At Individual Level: Be aware about the products that you buy, every time check the origin of product. Always try to motivate others to buy made in India products. Having a Chinese product is not the issue but buying that again and again due to their cheaper is the serious issue. All the shopkeepers can play a great in this.
  2. Promoting Indian Goods: Never suggest anyone to buy other countries products, be confident and complacent in using and promoting own products.
  3. Support Government Schemes: Government have launched various schemes to promote local products. Some schemes are AATAMNIRBHAR BHARAT..... Other initiatives and start ups were also started like: Make In India; Skill India etc.

There are three types of products in India that are related to China.

  • Directly imported Made in China: These does not provide any employment to India except shopkeepers.
  • Made in China but assembled in India: These show the sticker “Made in India”. These provide some employment in India.
  • Made by other countries but manufactured/assembled in China. Like Samsung, LG, Apple etc

Here are some of the challenges while we should consider during boycotting Chinese products:

  • If we boycott Chinese brands then do we have any alternative , are we ready to buy Make in India products when in the same market we are getting more cheaper products with more features and with much more advanced technology. Think about it.
  • If we boycott Indian companies that uses Chinese raw material then i assume there are few Indian companies left. For example- TVS and Bajaj both uses Chinese raw material in automobiles. Should we stop using motorcycles of Bajaj and TVS.
  • India is the third largest exporter to china and this will impact our trade. Companies import raw material from china and then export the furnished product in other countries and made profit ,if we stop those imports then the trade deficit will increase. For example - Tata, Mahindra, TVS, Bajaj all these exports two wheeler and four wheeler to more than 50 countries, if they do not get that cheap raw material then there is no profit and hence no exports.
  • Another important aspect is that various big online companies have Chinese partnerships and shares. For example- Paytm, Zomato etc. all have 40-60% share of Chinese Brands. And these services generate a lot of employment in India like sales agent, delivery men etc.

China,s unfair trade practices are loom for the developing and underdeveloped countries. China's strategies are selfish and they are aggressor, they have many ongoing disputes with other countries too.

So a premeditated action is required to take China down and repulse Chinese companies without any loss in Indian economy
