Education In Pandemic: Online Platforms

During the prevalence of the Pandemic all around the world, everything has desisted. From economic activities to the educational systems had impasse by the spreading virus. Every school and college had been shut down, the exams were also extended and eventually cancelled, many universities conducted exams online. But now as the time of new session begins: parents, schools are distraught and trying to adopt new ways of learning subject. 

There are various types of students and all have their own capabilities based upon their interests and knowledge. 

According to UNESCO, since the outbreak of the lethal disease began, around 1.40 billion students in 138 countries worldwide have been affected by school and university closures.
Since the whole country is under lockdown, e-education is the best way to learn effectively. Universities, school faculties are setting up accounts on online platforms such as Zoom, Skype, Google classroom, You tube, Google meet etc.




ONLINE EDUCATION
In this type of pandemic, the virtual classes are preferred, the prevalence of online classes is increasing.
And this option could be the best one also. 

This can be delivered in two ways: 
  1. LIVE CLASSES: This mode is really helpful as it gives a chance for students to interact with their teacher and they can clear their doubts on the spot. On the other hand, it requires good infrastructure and students must regular to attend these classes.
  2. PRE-RECORDED VIDEOS: This method is also of great use because teachers and students can work according to their own time slot. But if students face any difficulty then they have to wait.

Steps taken regarding online education

Everyone is in favour of online education, the teachers, parents, students and schools all are trying to adapt the online education.
The online education has been initiated in various states like Maharashtra, where students above class 2nd are allowed to pursue online education. Maharashtra government gave many detailed guidelines for students, parents and schools to remove the impasse in education. The online education has been started in Maharashtra, Karnataka.
Other state governments have also taken effective steps to promote online education. It is said that students who can afford prerequisite equipment for online education can learn from home and those who cannot afford are advised to go to school and collect assignments weekly.

Delhi government has launched an e-learning platform on 3 July. The portal which has been named as LEAD (Learning through e resources made accessible by Delhi). This portal is for class 1 to 12. Students can access course material using the portal.

Day by day central and state government are examining the educational system and trying to make education accessible for all.

Some challenges that students and schools can face:
  1. Availability of resources: Mostly the government schools and their students do not have adequate resources. In some schools there are not enough tables and chairs for students, do you think that they have the proper infrastructure to give education in such a crisis where social distancing is the primary duty.
  2. Use of Technology: If resources are available up to some extent then they might not know how to execute them in a proper way. Most of the population resides in rural areas and many of them do not have access to robust internet and digital technology.
  3. Time Management: This may be the biggest problem for teachers and students, a routine should be adjusted in a proper manner. Some students get up late as there will be no one to ask them, why you didn't join yesterday's class. On the other hand, the managing a class of a different subject is a big challenge.


E-learning is good news, but at its initial stage, it poses certain threats to students. Attitude change and technological literacy would help them gain the confidence to succeed in their courses with a positive vibe.

India's Degrading Democracy and Freedom
